Karyology – referring to the chromosomes
Keel – (1) (Faboideae) carina; the two often partially united lowest/anterior petals which conceal the sexual parts; (2) narrow longitudinal ridge sticking out from a rounded surface, like on the bottom of a boat
Keeled – bearing a ridge along the middle (like the keel of a boat)
Knee root – breathing root or pneumatophore, where the horizontal root forms a loop that emerges at low tide
Kranz anatomy – Kranz structure; the vascular bundles are surrounded by bundle sheath cells, into which the newly produced 4-carbon compounds are transported and where these compounds are decarboxylated; Kranz anatomy prevails among plants with C4 metabolism
