Raffinose – an oligosaccharide made up of three sugar units, galactose, fructose and glucose, serially linked

Ranunculin – a glucoside, enzymatically broken down into glucose and toxic protoanemonin

Rapanone – 2,5-dihydroxy-3-tridecyl-1,4-benzoquinone

Reserpine – an indole alkaloid

Resins – lipid-soluble terpenes or phenols

Resorcinol – a dihydroxy benzene; resorcinol (resorcin) it the 1,3-isomer of benzenediol

Rosmarinic acid – type of phenylpropanoid involving cinnamic acid derivatives; a depside of caffeic acid linked to dihydroxyphenyllactic acid

Rotenoids – flavonoids, derived from isoflavones, with an extra carbon atom from S-adenosyl methionine and incorporating a prenyl group into the isoflavone structure

Route I iridoids – a class of iridoids, derived from deoxyloganic acid, the normal route I iridoid not undergoing oxidation

Route II iridoids – a class of iridoids, derived from epi-deoxyloganic acid

Rubber – a component of latex, made up of isoprene units, cis-1,4-polyisoprene

Ruspolinone – a pyrrolidine alkaloid
